Tears of War

The Iraqi War, which is also known as the Second Gulf War, started when Iraqi troops hijacked airplanes and attempted to crash into the Twin Towers, and several other buildings such as the Pentagon. There are over 200,000 troops out to war. The Iraq War has been going on since 2001, now it is 2007. The more the war lasts the more families grieve for the deaths of their loved ones. I am writing this on behalf of my uncle, who is currently fighting bravely for his country, to help him and his fellow soldiers make it back alive.

I believe that we might be able to help change the future of our nation by asking the President to bring back the soldiers. “President George W. Bush sent out 300,900 soldiers to the war. These soldiers were part of the invasion of Iraq on March 20th, 2003. The invasion marked the beginning of the war.”(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War#1991-2003:_the_no-fly_zones [1]). People worry that Iraq could bomb us and cause more destruction because of what we did to them. Why don’t we just make a peace treaty?

I think that the war is a waste of time, money, and lives. The government’s main focus is on the war. While the government wastes their time on the war, more important things are happening here in the U.S. Many people disagree with my opinion and think otherwise. Some believe that the war could go on, we should mind our own business and continue supporting then war by paying our taxes. Others think that the war is to teach Iraq a lesson or to prove to them that we are better and wont take a hit. People like me think that the war should be stopped. We know that these people are wrong. Supporting the war or just letting it go on will only make matters worse. This has been going on for six years now, and that’s too long. We have to do something about this.

Many things have been going on within the midst of the war. Victories, losses, tragedies, celebrations, all of these have happened over the past six years. One of the best news we’ve had was when Saddam Hussein was captured on December 13th, 2003. When he was captured, many of us thought the war had come to an end and that Iraq would finally surrender. We had thought wrong. Now Iraq was ready to do whatever it takes to overcome us. On March 31st, 2004 Iraqi insurgents in Fallujah ambushed a convoy containing four American private military contractors from Blackwater, USA who were conducting delivery for food caterers.

After this incident, the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force began plans to re-establish a coalition presence in Fallujah. On April 4th, the multinational forces began assaults to clear Fallujah of insurgents. On April 9th, the multinational forces allowed more than 70,000 women, children, and elderly residents to leave the besieging building. After this, the fighting continued in the Shi’ite South, and Italian and Polish forces were having increasing difficulties retaining control over Nasiriya and Najaf.

This is overwhelming evidence that the war is only making our lives harder. So, as you can see, the war is a heavy burden on all of us. The war has brought pain and misery to our country. If President George Bush would make all the soldiers come back from the war, then he would save the tears and lives of hundreds of thousands of people. We just have to help him understand what the war has done to us. Everyone who feels the same about the war, instead of sitting at the computer or watching TV, do something about this. Help yourself, and while you’re at it, you’ll be helping the rest of the country, too.
