BET Has the Down Low on Gay Men

Nina Henderson Moore, Executive Vice President of BET, said that, “Producers brought the concept of “The Down Low Exposed”. The Down Low is a show that is going to air on BET Tuesday night at 10.The Down Low is a show that talks about the issue with men being gay or men that turn gay when they go to jail. The producers brought this issue to Moore because they felt this was important. Moore said “the BET special takes the discussion beyond ‘merely the shock aspects of the subject. Moore told the producers you got to be careful with a subject that’s talked about so much. “We loved their style of approach”, said Moore about the special. 

BET wanted to make sure that they would be able to bring something that took the discussion one step further. The conversation also goes to how men turn gay when they go to prison. Like they must have had a thought of being gay before they went to prison. Moore says that probably the main subject in the conversation. Author Terry McMillan, applauded BET for what they are doing.

Oprah Winfrey brough the subject of  men who secretly sleep with men to the mainstream. Winfrey said this in April 2004. McMillan also says that “men should be held accountable for their actions”. The show will air on television again on Friday at 10 p.m. The film maker for the special show is Bill Duke and Moore says “Duke did a great job on the show and thanks him for his beautiful work”.
